Abstract
Peripherally inserted central catheter (PICC) is widely used in very-low-birth-weight infants and critically ill neonates in whom long-term access to the venous system is required, for parenteral nutrition and administration of intravenous fluids and medications. However, the use of a PICC may occasionally be associated with complications like sepsis, effusions,
thrombosis and migration. This case report is of a neonate who experienced Surgical removal of angiocatheter sheath, which threaded into axillary vein while PICC insertion.
